It feels right that as the angle of the earth tilts in our favour toward the sun, the scales of vaccine vs virus start to tilt the way we all want them to, and we’re starting to see light at the end of the tunnel!

For me, this week has been exceptionally busy, speaking with excited and exciting people about starting their own travel business. It’s only natural that people want a part of the boom that’s about to happen in travel.

We’re known for our straight-talking, non-salesy approach to franchising, and are one of only a few franchisors out there that actively put roadblocks up to make sure that a partnership would work, both ways.

So as our phone lines and inboxes get busier we’ll maintain our same approach and have in-depth, honest conversations with each interested person.

Why are people so excited about starting a travel business?

Conversations we and our franchisees are having with customers tell us that a good number of people are determined (or desperate) to get away on holiday in 2021 or 2022. 

There are great companies that have been created during difficult times, seeing the opportunity and taking it. Companies such as Burger King, IBM, Microsoft, FedEx and AirBnB were all started during a recession.

So what’s the opportunity here?

Trust

Sadly, the pandemic has led to several high street stores closing. Alongside this some travel companies have done themselves no favours in the way they’ve handled the pandemic which will mean they will lose customers. 

As a group, we didn’t receive a single negative Trust Pilot review in 2020, so your customers will know they’re booking with the good guys. Customers can only know a good company in bad times and we’ve proven that in our toughest times, customers still come first. 

That’s something you cannot buy. Trust. And trust is something customers are valuing more than ever.

People want to know they’re booking with a reputable company that will look after them in bad times. They want to know that their money is safe and that someone will be at the end of the phone if needed. 

If you’re thinking of starting a travel business, customer service should be at the heart of everything you do.

Furlough offers opportunity

We’ve seen a lot of people take advantage of the extra time being of furlough gives them, whilst receiving 80% of their wage from the government. 

The current end date for the furlough scheme is April 2021. More people will join us and get their business ready in the background. 

This can be a great opportunity for you to take control of your future, by starting your own company (with its own name and brand identity), as long as you have the personality and drive within you.

Work from home

A lot of people are used to working from home now and dreading the idea of a commute again. 

Why not start a business that can always be home-based? Or when the world opens back up again you could go and meet your clients for a coffee whilst discussing their next holiday?

With your company, you create the culture. Is that something that excites you?

Are you hard working?

Do you always deliver excellent customer service?

Do your colleagues see you as a leader?

Do you inspire people in your workplace?

Do people look to you for answers?

Do you feel like you deserve more from the work you put in?
